Personally:
I have lived in Nelson Bay since 1975. I intially worked at Nelson Bay Medical Centre as a practice nurse and then later at Lingard Hospital and John Hunter Hospital. I am married with 4 children. My interests include swimming, reading, and travel.
Professionally. I am a credentialled diabetes educator and have been working in the speciality of diabetes for the past 19 years. I completed a Graduate Certificate in Diabetes Management at Deakin University (Victoria) in 2001 and a Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) through Newcastle University (NSW) in 2008.
In January 2009 I opened my own diabetes practice “Action Diabetes” in Nelson Bay. I also conduct diabetes clinics at Medowie, Raymond Terace, Karuah. Maitland, Tanilba Bay and Hamilton. I have 2 other diabetes educators working with me at Action Diabetes as well as a diabetes specialist , Dr. Kirsten Murray. Our aim is to provide personlaised holistic diabetes care to all patients with diabets. We see people with Type 1, Type 2. prediabets and gestational diabetes. Education sessins are conducted on an individual or group basis.
